Rocket Doctor is being made available to the Northern Health region to provide another option for virtual care for those who may have difficulty accessing care, or in the event of a temporary service interruption.
This virtual service will also help reduce pressure on local clinicians and allow local teams to focus on urgent and complex care. The goal is to reduce gaps in care and avoid unnecessary emergency department visits.

Controlled Medication
Our doctors cannot prescribe controlled medications such as narcotics.
Disability and School Forms
Doctors cannot fill out WSIB or specialty disability forms, such as school absence forms.
Backdated sick notes
Doctors cannot provide sick notes for an illness that occurred in the past.
Long absences sick notes
Our Doctors cannot provide sick notes for absences greater than a week.

Physicians on Rocket Doctor are fully licensed and make independent clinical determinations based on their training and the specific needs of each patient.
- Case-by-Case Determination: MDs evaluate the appropriateness of controlled substances per patient; an appointment does not guarantee a specific prescription.
- Clinical Safety: In collaboration with MDs on our platform, we discourage the use of short-course opiates without a clear diagnosis, established history, and/or the ability for the MD to provide ongoing care.
- Addictions Medicine / Substance Use: We have physicians comfortable managing addictions medicine across Canada. Our patient care team will review these cases and do their best to match patients to the most appropriate physician to ensure the highest quality of care.
